Sightseeing in Budapest, Hungary - See Budapest

The See Budapest Tour's usual tour route

After the hotel pick-up, we start at the Millenium Monument on Heroes' Square, followed by a short walk in the courtyard of the Vajdahunyad Castle by the Szechenyi Thermal Bath. Passing by the villas and palaces of Andrassy Avenue and Oktogon, the State Opera House and the former Institute of Ballet, we show you the 96-meter high, massive Parliament building (no interior visit).

Next comes the Hungarian Parliament, the largest building in the country with 691 rooms and a Neo-Gothic exterior on Kossuth Lajos Square. The square has monumental statues of important Hungarian freedom fighters, as well as a memorial for the victims of the 1956 Uprising against the Soviet tyrants. (No interior visit. Budapest Parliament Tour booking is HERE for addicts of architectural beauty.)

The Buda Castle quarter is comprised of the actual Buda Castle building which was reconstructed after the war and historical-residential living quarters, where we get to walk about the Church of our Lady ( Matthias Church ), the Fishermen's Bastion, Old City Hall, Trinity Square, Fortuna Passage, the Furnicular Railway, the Turul Bird Statue and other important historical sights.

We pass by the Taban green slopes just behind the Castle District. The Taban used to be an entertainment district until the 1930-s.

We visit the Citadel, which is on top of the 140-meter high Gellert Hill. When the weather permits, you can see the most beautiful parts of Budapest and have a bird's view as far as the Danube Bend (anyone want to book a Danube Bend Tour? Thanks!)

The Gellert Hotel and Bath lies at the south-eastern foot of the hill, with the garden machine-powered wave pool and a lavish architecture - you can see it from the top of the hill.

The tour concludes in the city centre, near the main pedestrian area, which has many shops, restaurants, tea-houses, travel agencies and hotels in an exciting neighbourhood.
